ipad eco article in the New York Times that uses a basic LCA of the iPad to compare its eco-impact to that of regular books. Just thought you might find it interesting!

Ran across this by accident: http://www.dba-co.com/pen. The company claims the pen is 98% biodegradable and "certified non-toxic". It's even "Produced at a wind-powered facility in the United States". Also, it was linked from this site: http://inhabitat.com/, which is a blog focusing on eco-friendly designs. They link to things like eco-friendly espresso makers: http://inhabitat.com/2010/04/01/a-zero-energy-recyclable-espresso-maker/.

Another TED talk that discusses a network and hunch based theory of idea generation (forwarded by a student in the class).

The neo-natal incubator Steven mentions is on display at the Cooper Design Museum Triennial in New York, which is worth seeing especially if you are interested in responsible design and sustainability. Student discounts.

There is a rather lengthy article on Universal Design in the new issue of Dwell that is a pretty good read. I recommend people check it out. Also posted on webcafe. http://www.dwell.com/articles/an-introduction--to-universal-design.html
